Rückl Crystal,a.s. of Nižbor and its current management decided, despite the long 14 years of our cooperation and promotion of the glassworks in F1, not to cooperate with us anymore. The negotiations and taking the decision took over a month before we received the negative final word in email, followed by a personal visit.
Consternation and solution
Our team fell into dismay as finding a new partner in the current turbulent conditions of Czech managers' mindsets, mainly the Czech lady managers in the positions in PR and marketing, is very difficult because of their limited decision powers and almost no authority.
We are patriots
As we consider ourselves patriots, our first thought was to find some other Czech company. We contacted the management of CRYSTAL BOHEMIA, a.s. . I went to Podebrady to win, feeling as if I was in one of the most difficult GPs in Formula 1 - Monte Carlo, such was the tension and clear determination. The question lay, if this does not work, what next?
The journey was quite smooth, the meeting was set to early morning time 8:30-9:00. I left Unhost around 7am to avoid the morning traffic, had a coffee on the way and found myself at the company's reception spot on time. I parked inside the works, made the sign of cross like some Formula 1 drivers do and was picked up soon by a nice gentelman, Mr. Jaroslav Seifrt, one of the owners of the glassworks. We shook hands and moved from the reception to his office, where I did my pitch. A discussion on our poll and Formula 1 followed resulting in the final YES - we will provide support. As I was ready for rain or shine, I immediately passed over all specifications and we went to the glassworks gallery to select the cup for the Climber of the Year in F1.
The trophy is a beautiful high vase, whose manufacturing started immediately in two copies, one for the driver and one for the team. Our cooperation should be on a long term basis and we certainly donot intend to change it.
I left both Podebrady and Mr. Jaroslav Seifrt prodigiously pleased, mostly because the negotiations went like in the old times, confirmed with a handshake, however with the eye on the modern times! And that is exactly how it should be. Let me express my thanks to CRYSTAL BOHEMIA and Mr. J.Seifrt above all.
Another Czech glassworks entering the Formula 1!
As soon as we have received the cups, we will inform both the expert and the general public on how the trophy was presented to Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 team and Valtteri Bottas.
