This year's winner is Nico Rosberg of Mercedes AMG Petronas F1. How it all started in 2004 or, a little bit of history.
The work on the website www.constructorsf1.com started in January 2004, followed by an opening press conference in the Centrum FotoSkoda with a massive journalist presence. Later, an independent site www.climberf1.com was established. It is not without an interest that the first Climber of the Year in F1 was Jenson Button - B.A.R. Honda, and the jubilee tenth one is Nico Rosberg - Mercedes AMG Petronas F1, which is, in fact, the same team, or the B.A.R. Honda's successor.
The first team to give me a personal invitation was Red Bull Racing F1 in 2010 (for the year 2009) and that is something you simply do not forget. The second time we got the invitation from Sahara Force India F1 in 2012 and than, in 2013, also from Williams F1, where the award ceremony and the freedom of our movement in the paddock exceeded our expectations. We would like to thank cordially to all those involved.
The Jubilee Year 2013
In the jubilee tenth year 2013 there were 1616 voters literally all over the world. I followed the voting with Google analysis. Nico Rosberg got the total of 270 votes, which, once again, is the most in the history of our poll.
The main partner of the project is the glass works in Nizbor - Rückl Crystal,a.s., www.ruckl.cz. Since 2004 the skilled hands of the glass makers have been creating the trophy cups, which we call wing cups, always one for the team and one for the driver. There is a certificate to go with each award with a photography of the driver and the team, signed by myself and Ing. Jiri Rückl. The whole thing has developed into a ritual of its kind. The certificates are printed in Unhost with an eight-ink printer CANON PRO 9000 MARK II on a hand made paper from A Centrum Kladno,s.r.o. Then I meet Mr Rückl in the office of the general manager Mrs Ing. Simona Prokopova, where the certificates are signed and the general manager takes pictures with a CANON G11 camera. We always discuss Formula 1 and have a nice cup of coffee. Long before that, however, we had been in communication with the team regarding the possibility to hand the trophies over at some European grand prix. I hope to be successful again this year.
