For the last race in Sao Paulo Red Bull rehersed a spectacular and stylish comedy. They ensured the first row with the gear ratios cut short and drove away from everyone immediately after the start. The rest of the race they shaped to their liking. But first things first, the free practice. From the top ten there are only the top five at the end of the season, behind Red Bull the second row was taken by McLaren, the third by Ferrari, though in case of Massa with a pretty large gap. The so called mid-field drivers made it to the last part of the qualification, beginning with Rosberg and end with the tenth Schumacher. Sutil's eight place is not a surprise, but the Senna's ninth is.
The race had been decided pretty much from the beginning, Vettel and Webber pulled away, followed by Button before Alonso and Hamilton. Alonso put some pressure on Button and soon got past him which set the standings for the first pit stop. Schumi was pressing on Senna, quite stupidly poked his nose where he couldn't fit and cut his tire in the consecutive accident. The result was the lost race not only for him, but also for the well-riding domestic newcomer, who was, moreover, questionably penalized. Then the team strategy came into the picture, when Vettel began moaning about his gearbox. That was the reason why he had to slow down, get passed by Webber and then, his gearbox mysteriously fixed, commenced taking some fastest laps. Having changed to the harder compound Button started to catch up with Alonso fast, overtook him and his third place was the proof of his Vice Champion title. Hamilton retired from the hopeless sixth place with a broken gearbox and that was it.
The podium was taken by both Red Bull drivers in reversed order, just as Vettel promised to help his team mate. Because Button finished third, he really managed to put Alonso in the final fourth place, with one decisive point more for Webber. Behind Alonso there was the second Ferrari driver - Massa, but with a huge gap of more than one minute. The rest, one lap behind, scored points as follows - Sutil, Rosberg, DiResta, Kobayashi and Petrov. Sutil ensured the ninth place in the final classification, right behind the drivers of so called top teams, but before Petrov's Renault. Among the teams Force India finished sixth close behind Renault. The seventh place and a nice sum of money goes to Sauber thanks to Kobayashi, in front of Torro Rosso, for whom the race didn't go well at all.
