The Red Bull's secret preparations of the Vettel's Title celebrations were spoiled only by the second Button. Otherwise the night race was quite typical for this season. Nothing new in qualification, Vettel won by a boat before Webber, second row Button with Hamilton, third Alonso with Massa, then Rosberg with Schumacher and Sutil and DiResta to complete the top ten. Renault failed totally and only Kobayashi had an accident in the labyrinth of walls. The interesting thing was that in the third part of the qualification only the first seven had some interest in the results. The remaining three didn't start at all and played games of tactics with tires instead. Also the race started the usual way, Vettel in the front, coming away from Button immediately, Webber failed his start again to be overtaken by Alonso. He, however, paid him back on the lap ten.
Two laps later Hamilton performed one of his usual stunts, hitting Massa's rear wheel with his front wing. They both had to go to the pit stop to have the corresponding parts changed, with a penalty for Hamilton as a bonus. Nothing happened before the half of the race and the leading drivers were getting away from the rest of the field. Schumacher brought in some action with his nonsense manoeuvre, when he hit competitor's rear wheels, which lifted him off and catapulted him onto the wall. He himself remained unhurt but the consequent Safety Car deployment put the whole field together again, including the drivers who had been already lapped. Especially Button got the worst of it, as he had to get over three of them after the restart, while Vettel disappeared away from him immediately. Apart from the Alguersuari's crash three laps before the end, nothing interesting happened, only Hamilton won some scalps and moved forward to the fifth place. In the finish Button got as close as two seconds to Vettel and both drivers taught the rest a hard lesson. The third Webber was thirty seconds behind and both Alonso and Hamilton were another fifteen seconds late. Di Resta was the last one not to be one lap behind, the remaining points, one lap behind, went to Rosberg, Sutil, Massa and Rosberg. The Titles have been decided in fact, for the last five races there would only be battles for the second to the fifth places in the Drivers Table.
