The upcoming season have not even started yet and it has gone wrong already. There will be no first race at all, the fourth test in the place of the first race that aroused biggest expectations had to be relocated to Europe and there was not enough time to test the new tires in the racing conditions.
The proclaimed efforts of FIA to save the team’s costs does not exactly match the reality of racing in out-of-Europe destinations that put up the price of logistics, reintroduction of KERS is unrealistically expensive for the not so rich teams and it opens the scissors of the double speed Championship even further. The hundred and seven rule then can result in less than 20 cars being actually present on the starting grid.
According to the pre-season tests and the potential of the teams, they may be broken down to three groups. In the first, you can find quite justly but without picking out a favourite the first three teams from the last year. Another strong player might finally be Mercedes, where the decisive phenomenon will be Schumacher. If it was not for the Kubica’s extravagance, paradoxically the best prediction would be for Renault, just take a look at Heidfeld, who compared to Kubica was crouching in his BMW in the back and suddenly, having reseated to Reanult was the fastest of all. The golden middle will be taken traditionally according to the results in the last season by Williams, Force India, Sauber and Torro Rosso, while the black marks remain in the hands of Fernadez’s Lotus, HRT as well as Marussia.
Finally a little thought, F1 is undoubtedly firstly about money, then about experience and lastly about visions. Whoever has money can get both top specialists and drivers, every team has, in fact, some experience. Well, apart from Ferrari, all other teams are serviced by Englishmen and they have always been good at it. Then, what is left, is the superstructure, vision or leader, or an exceptional talent. Michael Schumacher in Ferrari was the living proof, which can not be substituted for by Alonso, or Brawn in the season 2009, or Adrian Newey in Red Bull last year. The chapter of its own this season are the so called test drivers. Currently, when there are almost no tests, they are called the third drivers. Because of their age averaging at about 22 years, all they can say for sure is whether the car is moving or not. However, there is not much they can ruin, as for the sponsors' money they bring, they are usually allowed to drive around some city square. A serious, loyal and hard-working employee, ideally a former driver with experience is not in, just like computer animators are usually preferred to the real engineers. All these aspects combined must lead a thoughtful observer to the feeling, that F1 on the whole is slowly moving from a competition of cutting edge technologies to an amusement park attraction or a circus.
